Job summary

The City of Savannah is seeking a Maintenance Worker for the Refuse Disposal Division to perform grounds and equipment maintenance at the Dean Forest Landfill and Bacon Park Transfer Station. The role supports daily operations and ensures safe, efficient waste processing.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license, with six months of grounds or landfill maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks on landfill and transfer station grounds and equipment.
• Operate large equipment such as dust control trucks, tractors, and bucket loaders.
• Install erosion control measures and drainage structures.
• Inspect and load trailers; maintain cleanliness and repairs of vehicles.
• Screen customers and manage sign-in; assist non-residents.
• Ensure refuse is placed in proper containers and monitor for hazards.
