Job summary

Lake County Government is seeking a Landfill Operator for the Landfill & Recycling Department in Colorado. Under the supervision of the Landfill Manager, you will operate heavy equipment, maintain roads, collect fees, assist customers, and monitor site activities.

Qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, a Colorado driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required), and the ability to pass a drug test. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; 18+ years old.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Colorado Driver's License required.
• CDL Class A or B preferred, not required.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must pass drug test.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County employees, other agencies, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment of various sizes for loading, hauling, and unloading of materials.
• Maintains landfill roads and drainage; assists with trench digging and site projects.
• Collects fees and issues receipts; directs vehicles to correct dumping locations.
• Performs daily inspections of equipment and ensures proper maintenance.
• Monitors loads and site activities; enforces safety policies and procedures.
• Greets the public and provides landfill information; assists users with site rules.
• May assist in sorting recyclables and other site tasks.
