Job summary

Polk County BoCC is seeking a Landfill Operator - Class B to manage equipment operations at the Polk County Landfill. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance in a high-volume waste processing environment.

Candidates must hold a Class B CDL and have several years of landfill experience; Treeo certification within 12 months is encouraged. The position includes comprehensive benefits and an hourly pay range of $21.75–$31.53.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in operation and maintenance of landfill operations.
• Must possess a valid Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License at time of employment and maintain clean driving record.
• Willing to obtain University of Florida TREEO Center Landfill Certification within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Operate a wide range of landfill equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain berms and drainage systems to ensure environmental compliance.
• Assist with site Operations Plan implementation and permit compliance.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment; complete forms.
• Contribute to litter control, waste processing, and site appearance.
