Job summary

Salt Lake County is seeking a Landfill Operations Supervisor to oversee daily landfill activities, staff scheduling, and maintenance while ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory requirements.

The role covers supervision, budgeting support, and coordination of equipment and recycling processes, with Saturday/holiday work as needed. A valid CDL-B and Stormwater cert are required, along with a background check.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of related experience, with at least 1 year supervisory.
• Stormwater certification required.
• Valid Class B CDL and UDOT Medical Card required.
• Negative drug test prior to start; random testing thereafter.
• Background check via fingerprinting and RAP Back enrollment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff including hiring, orienting, training, and performance reviews.
• Analyze operations and develop objectives, procedures, and standards for improvement.
• Schedule staff, equipment, and resources for daily landfill operations.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, environmental, and permit requirements.
• Oversee equipment and facility maintenance; recommend replacements.
• Oversee recycling processes to maximize county funds.
• Assist in budgets and monitor operational expenses.
• Plan for business continuity during disasters and emergencies.
• Develop reports and correspondence.
• Perform occasional landfill and compost duties as needed.
