Job summary

Stafford County seeks a Maintenance and Operations Supervisor to oversee the Residential Convenience Facility, Residential Sales, Maintenance Department, and Commercial Scales at the regional landfill. You will lead a maintenance team in routine upkeep, manage scales and sales operations, and ensure accurate daily deposits and transactions.

Responsibilities include operating the truck scale, calculating fees, balancing cash, supervising staff, and coordinating recycling and erosion control

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years in general maintenance of buildings/grounds or scale operations.
• Supervisory experience.
• Experience with operating a landfill scale and cash handling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate the truck scale to determine weights of incoming refuse/recyclables and manage start-up/close-out.
• Calculate and collect fees; balance cash drawer and handle sales transactions.
• Prepare and maintain daily records and reports; verify permits and authorization to use the landfill.
• Oversee maintenance tasks including grass cutting, litter pick up, snow removal, electrical and plumbing work, construction projects, and painting.
• Schedule and supervise recycling areas and erosion control measures; ensure proper inventory of tools and equipment.
