Job summary

Prince William County’s Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division, is seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent for the Municipal Sanitary Landfill in Manassas, Virginia. You will oversee daily landfilling operations, supervise up to 12 staff, and coordinate safety programs and regulatory compliance.

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of five years in solid waste landfilling operations or construction, plus a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a DPOR Class II Waste

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum five years of full-time related experience in active solid waste landfilling operations or construction site development.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to obtain DPOR Class II Waste Management Facility Operator License within eight months of hire.
• Strong reading of regulations and permits essential.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily landfill operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Directly supervise up to 12 employees and mentor staff.
• Coordinate maintenance, repair, and replacement of facilities and equipment; oversee contractor activities.
• Prepare operational and regulatory documentation and reports and use standard office software.
