Job summary

Prince William County’s Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division, is seeking a skilled Maintenance & Operations Specialist to join our team at the County’s Municipal Sanitary Landfill in Manassas, Virginia. This role involves outdoor maintenance, use of tools, and hands-on work with environmental control systems to ensure safe and compliant operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum two years of recent full-time experience performing skilled maintenance and repair of facilities and facility infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair facility infrastructure including buildings, utilities, roads, and fencing.
• Inspect and repair landfill environmental control systems (stormwater, groundwater, leachate, landfill gas, SCADA).
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with supervision.
• Document work using work order management software and MS Office.
• Collaborate with County staff and contractors to ensure safety and standards.
