Job summary

York County Government is hiring a full-time Light Equipment Operator to support the landfill operations. The role requires operating a range of light equipment and performing maintenance tasks across roads, facilities and grounds.

The position is 40 hours per week, non-exempt, with overtime as needed and a rotating Saturday shift. A high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• One (1) year of operating light equipment or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
• Applicants with equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of light equipment and vehicles for roads, landfill, facilities, and grounds.
• Performs workplace housekeeping and litter pickups.
• Performs manual labor in maintenance and construction of roads, sidewalks, landfill, facilities, and grounds.
• Stocks vehicles with supplies and maintains tools and equipment; perform minor repairs.
• Responds to service calls and may work overtime to support County services.
• Controls traffic in work areas using signs, cones and barricades.
• Prepares work orders, logs, and inspection forms.
• Promotes safety and environmental practices in equipment use.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
