Job summary

Republic Services is hiring for a Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator-1 in Collinsville. You will safely operate heavy equipment at a disposal site, transfer station or recycling center, performing pre/post inspections and contributing to efficient waste handling.

The role requires experience with heavy machinery and adherence to OSHA standards, with a focus on safety, reliability and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment to ensure windows, lights, mirrors and rear view camera are clean.
• Safely and efficiently operate equipment including forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader and other equipment using proper safety standards.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable material.
• Monitor condition of equipment to minimize downtime; clean tracks or wheels as needed.
• Perform and document minor service on equipment and report repairs to supervisor.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other reports as necessary.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure shop is clean, serviced and stored at end of shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
