Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc is seeking a Treatment Plant Operator to manage day-to-day operations at the Thiopaq and PFAS removal facilities in Maine. The role focuses on safe, efficient operation, routine maintenance, and support to landfill staff while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities include calibrating controls, recording data, overseeing maintenance, and maintaining records to meet regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of landfill systems including construction, operation and maintenance.
• Experience with landfill gas treatment processes and rotating/compression equipment.
• Prefer 1-2 years landfill operations or related experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Complies with safety, spill prevention and environmental regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
• Oversees daily operations, including preventive maintenance, scheduling, and communicating facility status.
• Maintains spare parts inventory and records for regulatory compliance and operational setpoints.
• Calibrates process controls and sensors to maintain chemical balance and system performance.
• Performs rounds, records parameters and monitors equipment to identify malfunctions; documents activity.
• Maintains operation and maintenance records and reports in a timely manner.
• Supports monitoring and troubleshooting of landfill gas systems, including the flare.
• Participates in training and other opportunities to support company goals.
