Job summary

Waste Management is seeking a Plant Operations Lead for our landfill gas-to-energy facility. You will maximize production while adhering to safety, environmental compliance, and contract requirements.

The role acts as the on-site owner and coordinates with WMRE managers to maintain operations. The position requires 5 years diagnosing and repairing engines and cooling systems, valid driver’s license, and ability to travel up to 15%.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED (accredited).
• Experience: 5 years of relevant work experience diagnosing and repairing internal combustion engines and cooling systems.
• Must have valid drivers license.
• Must be able to travel up to 15% with overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Plan and own production actions to reduce plant operating expenses while minimizing downtime.
• Ensure compliance with air permit requirements, document SOPs, and support testing/inspections.
• Coordinate 3rd party vendors for maintenance, downtime, and compliance; communicate with WMRE management.
• Manage relationships with power/gas buyers and ensure compliance with contracts.
• Inspect, repair, and service all equipment per SOPs and training; handle non-routine repairs with sound judgment.
• Implement safety policies; ensure adherence by staff, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
• Complete mandatory safety and operations training as assigned.
• Procure supplies and equipment within budget; manage vendors and WMRE guidelines.
• Respond to after-hours plant shutdowns; diagnose and repair to restore operation; coordinate with WMRE managers as needed.
• Identify backup staff and schedule on-call coverage; balance on-site presence with daily/monthly duties.
