The County of Volusia is seeking an experienced Equipment Operator III for the Solid Waste Division, based at the Tomoka Landfill in Port Orange, FL. You will operate bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and other heavy equipment to support daily landfill operations.

A strong emphasis on safety and reliability is required, with duties including directing truck traffic, performing inspections, and routine maintenance. The role may require outdoor work and weekend shifts.

Qualifikationen

• Completion of the eight (8) grade and three (3) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy construction equipment.
• Possession of a valid Florida CDL of a class determined by the division/department of assignment within six (6) months of hire and maintain thereafter.
• A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements.

• Operates a heavy bulldozer and maintains a sanitary landfill.
• Directs truck drivers to dumping locations.
• Operates excavator and front-end loader.
• Operates landfill compactor and a semi-trailer with walking floor.
• Loads dirt, mulch, and other construction materials.
• Performs daily safety inspections of assigned equipment before and after use.
• May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs.
• Responds to emergency situations.
