The Highlands County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a semi-skilled operator for the Solid Waste department to operate and maintain landfill light equipment such as trucks, tractors, and loaders, ensuring safe and compliant operations at the active cell.

Position requires routine maintenance, daily reporting, and adherence to safety policies; a Florida CDL Class B or higher is required or obtainable within probation. Salary falls in pay grade 102: $33,087.60–$56,116.57 per year.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of operation, maintenance and use of landfill light equipment.
• Ability to obtain Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) certification or TREEO or equivalent training.
• Ability to communicate written and oral instructions clearly.

Responsabilités

• Operates and maintains landfill light equipment such as articulating trucks, water trucks, tractors and loaders.
• Performs routine manual labor tasks as assigned.
• Washes and maintains equipment; conducts daily vehicle inspections and load inspections.
• Receives, handles, processes and stores HHW and E-Waste.
• Maintains logs and submits monthly reports to solid waste/recycling office.
