Job summary

National Audubon Society in Naples, FL is seeking a Land Stewardship Technician for a full-time, on-site role. You will support conservation efforts on Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, remove invasive plants, and assist with prescribed fire and habitat management.

The position requires 1+ years in land stewardship, a high school-level education, and the ability to work with diverse teams, volunteers, and the public across 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or Vocational training required.
• 1+ years' experience in land stewardship or related environmental field work required.
• Ability to learn plant and animal identification; knowledge of South Florida ecosystems a plus.
• Certification readiness: First Aid/CPR; Firefighter training S130/S190; Pesticide Applicator License within specified timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Remove invasive/native plants using field equipment.
• Participate in prescribed fire activities and safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of land stewardship activities and inventories.
• Assist with wildlife monitoring and removal as needed.
• Operate 4WD trucks, ATVs, UTVs, and other vehicles; maintain field gear.
• Maintain fire breaks and trails with power equipment.
• Provide safety-focused on-site leadership and supervision of volunteers.
• Prepare written progress reports and communicate with staff and visitors.
