Job summary

Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Naples, FL seeks a Land Stewardship Technician to support conservation across 13,000 acres. This on-site, full-time role reports to the Land Stewardship Manager and involves field work removing invasive and native plants, assisting with prescribed fire, and coordinating with staff, contractors and volunteers.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 1+ year(s) in land stewardship, strong navigation skills, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or Vocational training required.
• 1+ years’ experience in land stewardship or environmental field work.
• Strong navigation and geolocation skills; GPS/GoogleEarth/FieldMaps a plus.
• Knowledge of South Florida ecosystems; herbicide application preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record; own vehicle may be required.
• Commitment to safety and Audubon values.
• Certifications: First Aid/CPR, S130/S190, and Pesticide Applicator within stated timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Remove invasive and native nuisance plants across the Sanctuary.
• Assist with prescribed fire preparation, ignition, and mop up.
• Maintain records of land stewardship activities and treatments.
• Assist with invasive animal monitoring and removal as needed.
• Operate off-road vehicles and maintain field equipment.
• Train and supervise volunteers in land stewardship tasks.
