Job summary

The National Audubon Society is seeking a Land Stewardship Technician for Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary (Naples, FL). The role supports conservation by implementing a science-based land plan, removing invasive species, and coordinating with staff and volunteers in a full-time, on-site capacity.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, 1+ year field experience, GPS/geo tools, and a valid driver’s license. CPR/First Aid and wildfire training are expected after hire.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Vocational training required.
  • 1+ years’ experience in land stewardship or other environmental field work required.
  • Equivalents considered; strong navigation and geolocation skills needed.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record; willingness to learn safety protocols.
  • Experience with GPS, GoogleEarth, Survey123 or FieldMaps is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Remove invasive and native nuisance plants within the Sanctuary using various equipment.
  • Serve on the prescribed fire team, assisting with preparation, ignition, and post-fire tasks.
  • Keep accurate records of land stewardship activities and chemical inventories.
  • Assist with invasive animal monitoring and related field tasks.
  • Train and supervise volunteers, maintain safety and communication with staff.
