Job summary

The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) seeks an experienced Division Administrator to guide policy development and supervise program management in Cheyenne. You will represent the agency in state government and with external stakeholders, researching and proposing policies, rules, and regulations to support the agency’s mission.

Essential duties include coordinating with DEQ divisions and federal partners, advising the Director on technical matters, and leading strategic

Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to those with a Bachelor of Science degree in technical fields of engineering, environmental science, law, or a related field of study.
  • Preference will be given to those with ten (10) years of experience in either governmental or private business.
  • Preference will be given to those with at least four (4) years of related environmental experience.
  • Preference will be given to those with an advanced degree in engineering, environmental science, law, or a related field of study.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the agency on inter- and intragovernmental initiatives and public processes, justifying actions to promote understanding and support.
  • Serve on committees that develop policy positions governing environmental standards.
  • Assist the Director in developing policy guidance and program management direction.
  • Advise the Director on technical and legal matters as needed.
  • Coordinate Agency responses to Federal actions impacting Wyoming’s environment.
  • Participate on the Department management team.
  • Establish and recommend the Director’s department objectives after evaluating interests and constraints.
  • Review staff work to ensure statewide consistency and make decisions on compliance with standards.
  • Responsible for special projects and non-routine tasks as assigned by the Director.
  • Coordinate with other DEQ divisions and state/federal agencies.
