Job summary

Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality seeks an Abandoned Mine Land Division Administrator to support the Director with policy guidance, program direction, and strategic oversight, protecting Wyoming’s environment while fostering responsible development.

The role represents the agency in meetings, coordinates with state and federal partners, and guides staff on policy, regulatory matters, and complex projects, including travel as needed to fulfill the mission.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master's/Doctorate in a science field preferred.
  • Ten years in governmental or private sector related to environment.
  • Valid driver’s license required or preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the agency on inter/intragovernmental initiatives and public processes, advocating actions and decisions.
  • Develop policy positions governing environmental standards.
  • Advise the Director on technical and legal matters as needed.
  • Coordinate agency responses to Federal actions impacting Wyoming’s environment.
  • Establish department objectives after evaluating interests and constraints.
  • Review staff work for statewide consistency and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Coordinate with other DEQ divisions and state/federal agencies.
