Job summary

Alfred Benesch & Company in Pottsville, PA is seeking a Land Development Project Engineer. You will lead civil/site development from concept through final design, coordinating with public agencies and private clients in a hybrid office setting.

The role requires 5+ years in civil design, a PA PE license or progression toward licensure, a B.S. in Civil Engineering, and strong CAD skills. You’ll mentor staff and help grow the division while delivering quality projects on time.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of diverse civil design experience.
  • Licensed PA Professional Engineer or plan to obtain licensure soon.
  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience with public agencies, private clients and/or municipalities.
  • Progressive experience developing plans, specifications, and submissions.
  • Excellent communication and client relations skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with budgets and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site development projects from concept through final design and construction support.
  • Develop and execute project schedules and work plans.
  • Manage project teams with accountability for budget and schedule.
  • Mentor and support junior staff in technical and professional development.
  • Contribute to division growth initiatives and regional strategy.
  • Interact with clients, agencies, and permitting authorities.

Land Development Project Engineer

We have an exciting career opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our growing Civil team in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in Civil Municipal/Land Development design, along with comprehensive knowledge of Municipal and Land Development projects. This role requires expertise in preparing plans in accordance with current industry standards, local ordinances, and state permitting regulations. This position may also involve transportation projects performing stormwater design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and erosion control permitting.

Location

This position will be a hybrid position in the Benesch Pottsville, Pennsylvania office.

Key Projects Leading the Way
  • Alvernia University - Ongoing University Projects: Strengthening educational infrastructure through long‑term collaboration on new and renovated school facilities
  • Hazleton Area School District - Ongoing School Projects: Expansion of existing school facilities with numerous site improvements for increased safety and improved traffic flows
  • NorthPoint Development - Mountain Valley Logistics Center and Highridge Logistics Center: Civil/Site design for a national real estate developer. Design and received approval for over 7 million square feet of industrial warehouse space.
  • Land Development projects including residential subdivisions, municipal facilities, and commercial and industrial buildings with associated design and permitting.
  • Local Municipalities and Counties - Various Projects: Enhancing local infrastructure and recreation facilities including roadways, bridges, parks, and recreational courts.

  • Lead site development projects from concept through final design and construction support.

  • Interact with clients, agencies, and other project stakeholders, including Municipal and County government and permitting agencies.
  • Represent Benesch at industry and professional engagement events.
  • Identify new business opportunities and lead strategic project pursuits.
What We Are Looking For
  • Minimum of 5 years of diverse and progressive civil design experience.
  • Licensed PE in the state of PA or planning to obtain licensure in the near future.
  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience working with public agencies, private clients and/or municipalities.
  • Progressive experience with developing plans, specifications, and submissions per industry standards and requirements.
  • Excellent communication and client relation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with a track record for adhering to design budgets and schedules.
  • Advanced proficiency in CADD and ability to ensure compliance with project CADD standards.
  • Ability to work independently and produce task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner.
