Job summary

VHB's Land Development Co-op in Hauppauge, NY introduces students to the workforce with hands-on learning across preliminary research, site surveys, conceptual/final design, permitting, and construction, in a collaborative environment.

The internship runs January–June 2027 and offers exposure to working with engineers, municipalities and consultants while developing essential professional skills and an understanding of real-world project cycles.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering
• Must have the ability to conduct tasks independently
• Strong interest in civil engineering

Responsibilities

• Interact with numerous VHB staff, municipalities and other consultants to advance projects in a timely manner
• Engineering calculations
• Using AutoCAD to prepare preliminary and final design plans
• Contract documents including specifications
• Engineer’s estimates
