Job summary

Forestar Group Inc. is seeking a Land Acquisition Manager in its Operations department to find, place under contract, obtain governmental approvals and close on new land that meets division needs.

Responsibilities include directing all land acquisition activities, coordinating entitlements, and negotiating with landowners and brokers. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience, a valid driver's license, and ability to travel overnight as part of district expansion efforts and budget

Qualifications

• Fifth year college or university program certificate.
• Seven to ten years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have a vehicle and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and coordinate all land acquisition activities.
• Identify and qualify potential land acquisitions in alignment with division goals.
• Manage the due diligence process on land acquisition opportunities, including initial master planning work with internal teams.
• Manage, coordinate resources for, and meet all entitlement needs for land acquisitions.
• Monitor development phases and entitlement processes post-closing.
• Develop departmental overhead budget and control the budget.
• Manage land/lot purchase contract process with division and external counsel.
• Collaborate with Land Development on potential communities.
• Develop business relationships and scout other acquisition avenues.
• Negotiate acquisitions with landowners, attorneys or brokers.
• Prepare land valuation analysis and corporate budgets.
• Prepare memoranda and documentation for corporate approvals.
