Job summary

Dragonfly Pond Works, based in Virginia Beach, VA, seeks a field-oriented candidate for outdoor pond and stormwater maintenance. The role offers year-round, full-time work with growth opportunities in a fast-growing environmental services company.

You will identify invasive weeds, inspect stormwater components, operate and repair pond equipment, and perform site maintenance while adhering to safety and quality standards. A license and ability to lift 80 lbs are required.

Qualifications

• Aquatic Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Experience in lake and pond management, pest/herbicide control or surveying preferred.
• Experience in fisheries, wildlife management, ecology, biology, environmental sciences or forestry desirable.
• Electrical work experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift 80 pounds on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

• Identify and treat invasive weeds.
• Visual inspection of stormwater components.
• Perform basic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on pond fountains and related equipment.
• Mowing/string trimming sites.
• Improve overall aesthetics of the sites.
• Minor repairs for compliance.
• Implement safety training for field staff.
• Handle administrative duties.

Pay

$18- $22 an hour- Full-time

Requirements

• Aquatic Pesticide Applicator License or be able to obtain a license within 30 days of hire.
• Experience in lake and pond management, pest/herbicide control or surveying is preferred.
• Experience in the following disciplines are desirable: fisheries, wildlife management, conservation, ecology, biology, environmental sciences or forestry.
• Electrical work experience preferred, but not required.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Able to swim and comfortable around water.
• Ability to lift 80 pounds on a regular basis.
• Great communication skills.
• Basic math skills to calculate product applications.
• Mechanically inclined.
• Occasional travel may be required.
