Job summary

Mass General Brigham's Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is seeking a lactation consultant RN to educate and support new mothers, assess breastfeeding needs, and promote successful breastfeeding practices.

You will work with infants in the NICU, develop individualized care plans, address latch issues, and guide pumping and milk storage. Requires RN license, BLS, and CLC; IBCLC preferred. This onsite per diem role offers a competitive hourly pay range.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree Nursing required.
• RN license in state of practice.
• BLS certification required.
• CLC Certification required.
• IBCLC certification preferred.
• 1-2 years lactation experience in hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Educate mothers on breastfeeding benefits and proper latch, positioning, and feeding techniques.
• Advise on managing common breastfeeding challenges (nipple pain, engorgement, low milk supply).
• Provide guidance on pumping, storage, and handling of breast milk.
• Conduct assessments of mothers and infants to identify lactation issues.
• Develop individualized care plans and monitor progress over time.
• Collaborate with NICU staff to ensure feeding strategies for preterm or medically fragile babies.
