Job summary

OhioHealth is seeking a Lactation Nurse to contribute to the development and implementation of lactation services, including clinical, rental and retail support. You will provide patient care through individualized consultation and telephone help line, within the Womens Center.

The role emphasizes education, collaboration, and ongoing professional development as part of a commitment to high-quality maternal and infant care in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Ohio.
• BSN required at 5 years of employment.
• Must obtain Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) or IBCLC within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides education, demonstration and assistance with correction of breastfeeding problems during sessions.
• Coordinates breast pumps and retail accessories – rental and sales; maintains equipment and materials.
• May provide prenatal and post-discharge classes and support for breastfeeding mothers.
• Collaborates in writing policies and educational materials for the Lactation Program; maintains continuum of care with Lactation Consultant.
• Engages in continuing education and attends related workshops and conferences.
• May participate in CEU planning and in-services for staff on breastfeeding information.
