Job summary

Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee seeks a skilled Lactation Consultant RN to provide comprehensive lactation support across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. The role includes direct patient care, consulting with physicians, and leading breastfeeding education programs.

You will deliver hospital and post-discharge support, develop outpatient services, and mentor staff, using current lactation research to improve outcomes for mothers and babies.

Qualifications

• RN license issued by the state, and IBCLC within 1 year.
• 2 years of professional nursing experience in Women's Health.
• Lactation Consultant (CLC) certification required; IBLCE within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Assess lactation needs, diagnose problems, plan interventions and evaluate outcomes.
• Visit breastfeeding mothers in hospital and via post-discharge follow-up.
• Provide outpatient lactation care and newborn follow-up visits.
• Develop and manage outpatient lactation services and phone support.
• Lead staff training and in-services on breastfeeding care.
• Provide leadership and education to staff and community using current research.
• Conduct prenatal breastfeeding classes and evaluate outcomes.
• Serve as consultant to physicians on lactation-related health issues.
• Maintain patient lactation records and generate reports.
