Job summary

Mercy seeks a dedicated Lactation Nurse to provide lactation support and education to mothers and families within the hospital and after discharge. You will initiate regular contact during the baby's hospital stay to support breastfeeding and coordinate with the Family Resource Center for outpatient care.

The role includes community outreach and education in Mercy's mission-driven environment. The ideal candidate is an RN with a valid license, at least 1 year of experience, and CLC

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an approved nursing education program.
• Licensure: Current RN licensure with the State Board of Nursing or current RN temporary work permit.
• Experience: 1 year of experience minimum.
• Certification: Must have Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC). Must have a current American Heart Association healthcare Provider CPR certification.
• Other: Demonstrated clinical expertise, interpersonal relations, and ability to multitask; may work varied schedules including weekends/evenings.

Responsibilities

• Provide lactation support, education, and assistance to mothers and families.
• Initiates and maintains regular contact with mothers during the baby's hospital stay to support breastfeeding.
• Provides post-discharge outpatient care via coordination with Family Resource Center and Outpatient Lactation Services.
• Represents Mercy at community activities, outreach, and educational programs.
