Job summary

InterCon Construction is seeking a field-oriented laborer to prepare sites, locate utilities, and assist with gas piping and pipe installation in Madison, WI. This role involves physical work, lifting up to 50 pounds, and travel as needed to project sites.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid CDL preferred. Prior experience with gas mains or fiber optics is a plus, with additional training in gas and utilities construction.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/Equivalent.
• Valid Driver's License Class A CDL preferred.
• Must be willing to travel.
• Must be able to lift/push/pull 50 pounds regularly.
• Experience installing gas mains and fiber optic cables preferred.
• Education in Gas and Utilities Construction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare work site to locate utilities and eliminate possible hazards.
• Signal operators to help facilitate movement or alignment of equipment.
• Load, unload and transport construction materials and tools.
• Configure pipe routes.
• Assemble gas piping and equipment.
• Follow safety standards throughout the process, including while digging trenches, sliding pipe into trenches, grading trenches, and sealing joints.
• Ensure pipes are fitted and aligned using grade rods or transit levels.
• Cover pipes or cable with dirt or other material.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
