At Star Construction, as a Laborer on our Telecom Aerial team, you’ll perform duties related to installing and repairing aerial telecommunications cables and ensure that the scope of work performed meets customer standards.

What you’ll do as a Laborer
  • Assist technicians as a ground hand, provide parts, and operate bucket trucks as directed
  • Complete door-tagging and resident notifications before starting work each day
  • Inspect and maintain fleet vehicles and equipment daily; drive company vehicles to job sites as needed
  • Operate construction equipment and maintain work areas
  • Communicate clearly with team members
  • Complete daily production reports
  • Assist with site restoration efforts
  • Perform work in all weather conditions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What you’ll need
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience or a Class A CDL
  • 1-2 years of aerial experience preferred
  • Unskilled labor experience in telecommunications is a plus
  • Knowledge of aerial and underground cable installation, conforming to all applicable codes and customer specifications
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency as a pole climber or certification as a pole climber
Physical abilities & exposures
  • Routinely: Stand, crouch, sit, bend, handle objects, reach, climb, balance, crawl, lift, and stoop in various weather conditions
  • Occasionally: Work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, sleet, dust, and adverse driving conditions
Salary Range: $14.00-$16.00/hr (based on experience)
