At Star Construction, as a Laborer on our Telecom Aerial team, you’ll perform duties related to installing and repairing aerial telecommunications cable, ensuring the scope of work performed meets customer standards.

What you’ll do as a Laborer

  • Assist technicians as a ground hand, provide parts, and move bucket trucks as directed
  • Complete door-tagging and resident notification before starting work each day
  • Perform daily inspection and maintenance of fleet vehicles and equipment; drive company vehicles to jobsites
  • Operate construction equipment and maintain work areas
  • Communicate clearly with team members
  • Complete daily production reports
  • Assist with site restoration
  • Work in all weather conditions
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

What you’ll need

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Valid driver's license with at least 2 years of driving experience or a Class A CDL
  • 1-2 years of aerial experience preferred
  • Experience in unskilled labor, especially in telecommunications, is a plus
  • Knowledge of aerial and underground cable installation per applicable codes and standards
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency as a pole climber or certification as such

Physical abilities & exposures

  • Routinely: Stand, crouch, sit, bend, handle objects, reach, climb, balance, crawl, lift, and stoop in various weather conditions
  • Occasionally: Work outdoors in extreme heat/cold, rain, snow, sleet, dust, and adverse driving conditions

Salary Range: $14.00-$16.00/hr (based on experience)
