The Town of Danvers is hiring for a Laborer position within their Water & Sewer Division Pathway Program. This entry-level role allows for career progression to Operator positions through professional development and training support. Successful applicants will have a high school diploma and will be required to complete OSHA safety training.
The Town of Danvers welcomes applicants for the Water & Sewer division Pathway Program. The Pathway Program allows the Town to hire an entry-level position (Laborer) with the ability to train and educate that employee and progress them to the Operator I position and into the Operator II position with the Water & Sewer division. About the Pathway Program:
One candidate will be hired as a Water & Sewer Division Laborer and work through the Pathway Program into the positions of Operator I and Operator II. To move into the next position, the employee must satisfy certain qualifications in a specific time frame (see below).
A successful candidate will be hired into the position of Laborer and will have 24 months to meet the minimum qualifications for the Operator I position (obtain CDL with air brakes & tanker endorsement; obtain 2B Hoisting License; successful experience in Water & Sewer Division). Upon meeting the minimum qualifications, the employee will be promoted to Operator I. From that point, the employee will have 18 months to meet the minimum qualifications for the Operator II position (Grade II Water Distribution License; successful experience in Water & Sewer Division). Upon completing the minimum qualifications, the employee will be promoted to Operator II. Should the employee meet the minimum qualifications prior to the timeframe outlined above, they will be promoted. The Town of Danvers will pay for the training required for promotion. If the employee fails to meet the minimum qualification timelines at their fault, they may be terminated from the Pathway Program and employment with the Town of Danvers.
Minimum Qualifications for Entry into the Program:
A successful applicant will have a High School or Trade School Diploma and some knowledge or experience with simple maintenance and construction work tools. Completion of, or ability to complete within six (6) months of hire, OSHA 10-hr Construction Safety and Health training, is required.
