Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Laborer Journeyman to prepare, handle, and supply materials used by other crafts. The role involves loading/unloading equipment, erecting scaffolding, leveling ground, tending mortar, and performing concrete placement and finishing tasks.

The position emphasizes teamwork, safety, and adherence to project schedules, with opportunities to guide junior workers and collaborate across trades.

Qualifications

• Completion of a two-year apprenticeship program.
• Experience in construction preferred.
• Ability to work with power and non-powered hand tools and equipment.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and customer service skills.
• Light to heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work in a diverse team environment.

Job description

Summary

Mortenson is currently seeking a Laborer Journeyman that will be responsible for the preparation, handling, and supplying of materials to be used by other crafts.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging
• Level ground for scaffolding
• Tend mortar and grout
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets
• General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and unloading or burning debris
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete
• Vibrate concrete
• Provide work direction and guidance to Laborer I, II, Helpers, and Apprentice
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Completion of two-year apprenticeship program
• Experience in construction preferred
• Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
• *Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
