Job Description

Salary: $45,000-$47,000

Location: Topeka, KS 66612

Job Summary

Perform labor on all phases of bridge construction including demolition, substructure, and superstructure using various types of tools. Work Monday to Friday with occasional weekends, usually 40-50 hours per week.

Essential Functions

  1. Attend work as scheduled
  2. Get along with others
  3. Follow company handbooks and other instructions
  4. Communicate clearly and effectively
  5. Use and care for tools, equipment, and materials

Specific Duties

  1. Perform general excavation and leveling using shovels, picks, tampers, or jackhammers
  2. Align, place, and tie reinforcing steel of various sizes
  3. Vibrate concrete inside forms
  4. Set beams, tie rebar, and strip decks
  5. Carry lumber, plywood, reinforcing steel, and other materials
  6. Pour and level concrete
  7. Read and understand Safety Data Sheets and container labels
  8. Identify and communicate safety concerns to management in a timely manner
  9. Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

Education
  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
Physical Requirements
  • Normal vision and hearing (with correction)
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Walk on uneven ground, stand, climb, bend, kneel, reach, lift, and maintain balance
  • Lift up to 75 pounds regularly
  • Work safely in adverse weather conditions such as wind, rain, snow, ice, mud, and heat
