Job summary

Maryland Environmental Service has an immediate opening for an entry-level full-time Laborer at the Poplar Island facility near Tilghman Island, Maryland.

Responsibilities include janitorial work, basic maintenance, grass cutting, pesticide application, and operation of vehicles and power tools. Travel by crew vessel may be required, plus occasional errands for parts and supplies.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and pass a physical.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record is required.

Job Summary

Maryland Environmental Service has an immediate opening for an entry-level full-time Laborer at the Poplar Island facility located near Tilghman Island, Maryland.

Location

Poplar Island facility near Tilghman Island, Maryland

Responsibilities

• Responsibilities include janitorial functions, small repairs and maintenance, grass cutting, pesticide application, operation of vehicles, use of hand tools, power mowers & other small equipment.
• Position requires travel to and from work on a crew vessel (boat).
• Additionally, this position may be required to independently complete job-related errands including picking up parts, tools, and supplies.

Pay Range

Estimated Pay Range: $41,321.28 - $43,000.00

Minimum Requirements

• Graduation from high school or GED or completion of eighth grade plus one year of warehouse, production, building maintenance, janitorial, or other general work experience.
• Must be able to pass a standard physical exam, lift up to 50 lbs., and have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing and follow oral and written instructions.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with less than five points.

Employment Terms

This position will be open until filled. This position is eligible for on-spot, contingent offers. Candidates who apply after an on-spot offer has been extended (including internal candidates) will not be considered unless the candidate who receives the on-spot, contingent offer does not complete the process to become an MES employee. Any offer of employment will be contingent upon successfully completing required pre-employment screens, to include full background check, drug & alcohol screening, and position appropriate physical.
