Job summary

MBG is seeking a Laborer to support our projects across the Midwest. Laborers perform a variety of tasks outdoors in all weather, assist with site cleanup, material handling, and equipment setup while prioritizing safety.

The role requires physical strength, good hand-eye coordination, and the ability to follow directions from supervision. A valid driver's license and auto insurance are required, and relocation may be needed for project duration.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment.
  • Clean and prepare jobsite and warehouse.
  • Load and deliver materials to jobsite and warehouse.
  • Set up and take down ladders, scaffolding, and temporary structures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized job site and manage waste daily.
  • Represent the company to owners, architects, subcontractors, vendors and government authorities.
  • Follow direction of onsite Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and Labor Foreman.

Laborer is responsible for a variety of tasks at the jobsites. Laborers are required to work outside in all kinds of weather or in buildings without heating or air conditioning. Comprehensive understanding of the importance of jobsite safety is a must. Relocation for duration of project may be required.

  • Operate heavy equipment.
  • Cleaning and preparing the jobsite and warehouse.
  • Loading and delivering materials to jobsite and warehouse.
  • Use of a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Set up and take down ladders, scaffolding, and other temporary structures.
  • Traffic control, if necessary. Set up of markers, cones, barricades, and flag vehicles to control traffic.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site. Job site should be cleaned of waste debris on a daily basis.
  • Represent the company to the owner, architect, subcontractors, vendors and government authorities.
  • Follow direction of onsite Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and Labor Foreman.
Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. General construction laborers must have physical strength, hand-eye coordination, endurance and flexibility to interact with diverse craft workers. Laborers must also be able to concentrate on their tasks. The ability to understand and communicate information is also essential. Valid driver’s license and auto insurance is required.

Education and/or Experience

There are no minimum educational requirements. Must at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or its equivalent. Two to Five plus years experience; no related degree preferred; equivalent combination of education or experience will be considered; OSHA 10/ OSHA 30 a plus. Knowledgeable in construction means and methods.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret all construction related documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Working Conditions

The associate occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This is a safety-sensitive position.
