General Purpose: Assist skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties, usually under close supervision.
Work Schedule: Days and hours vary depending on the assigned project.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
- Perform a variety of functions such as digging, spreading and leveling dirt or aggregate with hand tools
- Lift, carry, and hold building materials, tools, and supplies
- Clean tools, equipment, materials, and work areas
- Mix, pour, and place concrete, gravel, and other materials using hand tools
- Join, wrap, and seal sections of pipe
- Perform routine, non-machine tasks such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with caulking, and rebar placement
- General cleanup, demolition, cutting, jackhammers, and placing culverts or pipe sections in trenches
- Work may involve staying on one task or being transferred between tasks as the project progresses to completion
- Maintain a professional appearance
- Other duties as assigned by Foreman or Superintendent
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
Required Experience:
- None required, but 1-3 months of prior experience is preferred
Required Skills/Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license to operate motor vehicles
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and instructions
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, with measurements and volumes
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow procedures
Supervisory Responsibility:
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead for extended periods
- Lift and carry at least 50 to 100 pounds
- Climb and descend ladders of all types
- Wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, eye protection, respiratory protection, fall protection, etc.)

Travel Requirement: May need to travel to different job sites on short notice
Work Environment:
- Work in all weather conditions—heat, cold, rain, snow
- May require using personal vehicle for transportation
- Use of sanitary facilities (portable toilets) at job sites
- Work in restricted areas (excavations, tunnels, manholes, tanks, crawl spaces, attics)
- Work at heights up to 100 feet using ladders, scaffolds, lifts, or other equipment
