Job summary

SA Recycling seeks a Laborer in Cleveland, OH to join our team. You will perform general housekeeping, metal processing, upgrading tasks, and assist technical workers on a range of assignments. The role emphasizes learning on the job, safety, and dependable attendance.

Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 7:45am–4:30pm with Saturdays as needed; overtime is scheduled based on business needs. We offer competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k

Qualifications

• Must pass a medical physical and drug test.
• Must pass a background check.
• Preferred: high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Unload pallets, boxes, and bundles.
• Material handling/sorting—pushing, pulling, picking, lifting, carrying and filling up hoppers, boxes and conveyor belts.
• Unpacking boxes using box cutters, separating plastics, zip ties, blister packs and other packaging materials.
• Disassembling equipment, cutting wires, torquing pipefittings, removing bolts, automobile parts and appliance parts.
• Operate recycling equipment for metal processing (e.g., metal shears, band saw, wire strippers).
• Direct yard traffic of vehicles and perform light facility maintenance.
• Maintain tools and PPE; assist machinery repair and cleaning tasks.
• Keep work areas neat, organized, and clean; perform other duties as assigned.

We are looking for hard-working, reliable and safety minded individuals to join our team as a Laborer. As a Laborer you will work on various tasks assigned. The tasks will include, but are not limited to: general housekeeping, metal processing, upgrading, and assisting technical workers. A laborer shall be able to learn new skills on the job, progress to more technical tasks, and become more independent.

Hours of operation: Monday through Friday from 7:45am to 4:30pm and on Saturdays as needed. Overtime is scheduled based on business needs.

Responsibilities of a Laborer

• Unload pallets, boxes, and bundles
• Material handling/sorting - pushing, pulling, picking, lifting, carrying and filling up hoppers, boxes and conveyor belts
• Unpacking boxes using box cutters, separating plastics, zip ties, blister packs and other packaging materials
• Disassembling all equipment, cutting wires, torquing pipefittings, removing bolts, automobile parts and appliance parts
• Work with recycling equipment for processing metal produce i.e. metal shears, band saw and wire strippers
• Direct traffic of yard vehicles traveling through yard
• Light facility maintenance - painting, scraping, moving furniture and equipment
• Maintenance - selecting and using tools properly, pulling and installing parts for machinery, working with other employees to assist machinery repair
• Housekeeping - sweeping, cleaning, shoveling and debris collection
• Moderate and periodic landscaping work
• Clean up work area at the end of the shift
• Keep work areas neat and orderly
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions
• Organizing materials to have more effective use of space
• Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner
• Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed
• Effective housekeeping in workplace areas is an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications of a Laborer

• Must pass a medical physical and drug test
• Must pass a background check
• Preferred: high school diploma or GED
• Ability to communicate with others effectively, understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills as the job demands
• Willingness to learn how to sort metal, identify colors, shapes and weights, properly maintain equipment, properly utilize PPE
