Job summary

SA Recycling is seeking dependable Laborers to unload, sort, and process scrap metal in outdoor yards in Barberton, OH. You will handle pallets, boxes, bundles, and move material through the yard ensuring safe, efficient operations.

This entry-level role offers weekly pay, comprehensive benefits, a 401k with company match, PPE provided, and advancement opportunities while working in varying weather conditions with safety standards. Overtime may be scheduled as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively; understand directions and use basic math.
• Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
• Must pass medical physical/drug test and background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide a positive customer experience by answering questions; assist in unloading and sorting materials; educate customers on acceptable materials; thank them for their business.
• Unloading pallets, boxes and bundles.
• Material handling/sorting - pushing, pulling, picking, lifting, carrying, and filling up hoppers, boxes and conveyor belts.
• Disassembling small equipment, cutting wires, torquing pipe fittings, removing bolts, automobile parts and appliance parts.
• Work with recycling equipment for processing metal products i.e. metal shears, band saw and wire strippers.
• Direct traffic of yard vehicles traveling through yard.
• Light facility maintenance - painting, scraping, moving furniture and equipment.
• Maintenance - selecting and using tools properly, pulling and installing parts for machinery, working with other employees to assist machinery repair.
• Housekeeping - sweeping, cleaning, shoveling and debris collection.
• Moderate and periodic landscaping work.
• Clean up work area at the end of shift.
• Keep work areas neat and orderly.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions.
• Organizing materials to have more effective use of space.
• Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner.
• Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed.
• Effective housekeeping in workplace area is an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members.
• Perform all other duties as assigned

SA Recycling, a leader in the metals recycling industry, is looking for dependable, safety minded individuals to join our team as a Laborer. As a Laborer you will be responsible for the unloading, processing, and disassembly of various types of scrap metal; yard clean up and maintenance; and other general physical labor duties to ensure the highest quality of scrap material is processed and shipped to our customers in a safe, effective manner.

This position will work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Operating hours hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, and from 7:30 am to 11:15 am on Saturdays. Overtime may be scheduled as needed.

Qualifications of a Laborer

• High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills as the job demands
• Skid Loader/Skid Steer/Forklift experience preferred.
• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
• Willingness to learn how to: sort metal, identify colors, shapes, and weights; properly maintain equipment; properly utilize PPE
• Must pass a medical physical/drug test and background check
• Ability to learn new tasks as assigned required.
