Job summary

SGS is the global leader in inspection, testing and certification, offering services to many industries. The Laboratory Technician role involves performing routine testing, sample preparation, extractions and digestions to determine chemical and physical composition of consumer products.

Under supervision, responsibilities include coordinating samples for chemistry testing, following SOPs, and maintaining safety and documentation while supporting ISO 17025 activities and QA/QC checks.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Chemistry or related discipline preferred.
• Experience in a lab with strict safety standards.
• Bachelor’s Degree or above in related sciences preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory testing following SOPs and methods.
• Prepare samples, extractions, and digestions for consumer product testing.
• Coordinate samples submitted for Chemistry testing.
• Test to applicable standards (ASTM, CSPA, ISO, SSC, etc.) and customer-specific protocols.
• Perform QA/QC checks on equipment daily, weekly, and monthly.
• Assist in calibration/verification tasks and ISO 17025 related activities.
• Ensure PPE and safety rules are followed.
• Assist in inventory, labeling, and related duties.
• Archive, return, or dispose of client samples per procedure.
