Position: Laboratory Technician

As a Laboratory Technician, you will:

  1. Perform and report routine and specialized laboratory tests on clinical specimens to aid in diagnosis and monitoring of patients, under general supervision.
  2. Detect abnormalities or diseases and record findings in the computer system.
  3. Conduct blood tests for transfusions and perform blood counts.
  4. Examine stained cells to identify abnormalities.
  5. Set up, maintain, calibrate, clean, and test the sterility of laboratory equipment.
  6. Analyze test results to ensure they meet specifications, using mechanical and electrical devices.
  7. Record and analyze test data, producing reports with charts, graphs, and narratives.
  8. Consult with a pathologist to determine final diagnoses when abnormal cells are identified.
  9. Prepare standard solutions and reagents following standardized formulas or procedures.
  10. Inoculate media with organisms for bacteriological testing.
  11. Collect blood or tissue samples from patients, observing aseptic principles.
Minimum Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
  • Laboratory license/certification as required by state.
  • Current BLS certification.
