Qualifications

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Pharmacy Technician (Compounding), you will work under a pharmacist's supervision to process, prepare, and dispense medications according to professional standards. Skills in sterile compounding, including hazardous drug preparation (chemo certification), are required.

What you will do in this role:

  • Accurately fill medication orders, compound and label medications, including sterile preparations such as chemotherapy and TPN, following aseptic techniques and USP 797 standards.
  • Obtain pharmacist checks before releasing compounded medications, packaging, or delivery.
  • Process medication returns and restocking, transport medications securely, and maintain proper storage.
  • Perform daily ADC routines, replenish supplies, troubleshoot issues, and support pharmacy technology systems.
  • Maintain accurate records for manufacturing, receive supplies, and manage inventory efficiently.
  • Identify issues, prioritize workload, and communicate effectively with hospital staff.
  • Conduct inspections, document procedures, and ensure compliance with safety and cleanliness standards.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a recognized sterile compounding course meeting Texas Board of Pharmacy requirements.
  • Hospital experience and sterile compounding experience preferred.
  • Current Registered Pharmacy Technician or Intern Certification with the Texas Board of Pharmacy.
