Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC seeks an experienced veterinary technician to support primary research investigators. The role involves performing technical laboratory procedures, animal anesthesia and surgery, and post-operative care in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Science (or equivalent), at least 1 year in veterinary medicine or related healthcare fields, and may have RVT/LVT or AALAS certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepares laboratory environment for professional education courses and materials.
• Conducts technical laboratory procedures including animal anesthesia, surgery, and postoperative care.
• Receives, prepares, and disposes of tissue samples.
• Assists in monitoring laboratory inventory and equipment and takes appropriate actions.
• Follows DEA regulations related to receipt, storage, use, destruction, and disposal of controlled substances.
• Maintains storage of research data and tissue records.
• Operates equipment and devices needed for laboratory procedures including radiographic equipment.
• Maintains the physical environment of the lab.

JOB SUMMARY

Provides technical support for primary research investigators and conducts technical research procedures. Experience with both animal surgery and anesthesia strongly preferred.

Major Responsibilities:

• Prepareslaboratoryenvironment for professional education courses as outlined by course coordinator and laboratory leadership. Prepares instrumentation, equipment, and consumables needed for the course.
• Conducts technical laboratory procedures and animalanesthesia, surgery, and postoperative care.
• Receives, prepares, positions, and performsproperdispositionofall tissue samples.
• Assistsinthe monitoring ofresearch laboratory inventory and equipment and takingappropriate actions.
• Follows all DEA regulations related to the receipt, storage, use, destruction, and disposal of controlled substances.
• Assistinmaintainingthe storage of researchdata and tissue records.
