Job summary

Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking a part-time Laboratory Education Coordinator for IRCAD North America. The role supports education courses and research projects, coordinating the laboratory environment and ensuring instrumentation and supplies meet course needs.

The successful candidate will supervise preparation, assist in complex procedures, monitor equipment, and help draft IACUC protocols. Requires BS in science, RVT/LVT or AALAS certification, and at least five years in veterinary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science Degree or equivalent in experience.
• 5 years of experience in veterinary medicine, research, medical education, or healthcare field.
• RVT/LVT, AALAS certification preferred.
• Ability to lead teams and mentor junior technicians.

Responsibilities

• Meets with laboratory leadership to understand education course or research needs.
• Supervises preparation of laboratory environment for education courses.
• Conducts technical laboratory procedures and supports anesthesia, surgery, and postoperative care.
• Monitors care of research animals and assists with surgical/technical procedures.
• Assists in organizing daily/weekly schedule of procedures.
• Monitors and maintains laboratory equipment and assists troubleshooting.

Major Responsibilities

• Meets with laboratory leadership and/or coursesponsorto understandneedsforeducation courses or research sessions.Ensures that instrumentation and consumables are ordered for the lab.Advisessponsors and leadershipaboutavailable materials and equipment.
• Supervises the preparation of laboratory environment for professional education courses as outlined by course coordinator and laboratory leadership. Coordinates on site with course coordinator to ensure the laboratory environment best suits their needs.Communicatesany requested changes to leadership and other teammates.
• Conducts technical laboratory procedures and animalresearchanesthesia, surgery, and postoperative care toa high level.Assistsandinstructsother technicians with complex procedures.
• Monitorscareofresearch animalsassistswith surgical and technical procedures.Performs animal subject research following GLP practices.
• Assistsin organizing and coordinating the daily and weekly schedule of procedures to be performed.
• Monitors andmaintainslaboratory analytical equipment and suppliesand takesappropriate action.Assistsintroubleshooting ofequipment and software.
• Takesexperimental and clinical observations.Performs quality control onresearchdata and facility records.
• Updates laboratory and surgical procedures as needed.Assistsin drafting, editing, and amending IACUC protocols.

• Ability tolead teams in a veterinary, research, or health care setting. Demonstrated ability to manage complexanesthetic and surgical cases. Ability to train and mentor junior technicians.
