UAB Medicine Freestanding Emergency Department of Gardendale seeks a laboratory professional to prepare, distribute, catalog and store lab specimens for testing in a fast‑paced environment. You will ensure accurate specimen handling and quality control while collaborating with emergency clinicians.
Responsibilities include using lab and hospital information systems and providing general administrative support such as filing, record maintenance, responding to calls, and mail delivery.
Pay range: $15.00 - $22.75 / hour

You’ll work in a fast-paced setting that requires accuracy, efficiency, and strong problem-solving skills while collaborating closely with emergency clinicians. To perform all duties related to the preparation, distribution, cataloging, and storage of lab specimens for testing. To adhere to departmental specimen identification policies and quality controls. To utilize lab and hospital information systems and provide general administrative support to the laboratory staff in support of laboratory operations, such as filing, record maintenance, responding to client calls, and mail delivery.
High School diploma or equivalent required. Depending on the unit/department or if the position works directly with patients, Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required or required to be obtained within 30 days of employment.
