Job summary

Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center is seeking a Technical Lab Associate for the Client Services Laboratory. You will receive specimens, verify identity, and enter orders and patient data in the Laboratory Information System and registration system.

You will prepare specimens for analysis and referrals, answer inquiries, and ensure proper specimen storage. The role supports a busy clinical laboratory environment with emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and patient safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent education required.
• Six (6) months job related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive laboratory specimens and verify identity and acceptability.
• Enter orders for laboratory testing into the Lab Information System.
• Enter patient demographic and insurance information into the registration system.
• Prepare specimens for analysis and referral to outside laboratories.
• Answer telephone and provide specimen requirements, test availability, and status.
• Ensure proper storage of specimens according to requirements.
