Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Technician V to serve as a technical resource for the laboratory. The role supports managers, supervisors and lead technologists with daily operations, including send-out testing orders, shipping, troubleshooting, and processing clinical specimens for diagnostic testing within the health system.

The Technician V is expected to maintain professionalism, comply with safety and HIPAA regulations, and assist with instruction of procedures to others.

Qualifications

• Associate of Arts or Science.
• Phlebotomy training and experience in outpatient or hospital setting.
• Prior experience with the Laboratory Information System.

Responsibilities

• Projects an image of professionalism in appearance and conduct at all times.
• Works well with peers and those in authority.
• Promotes Penn Medicine BE standards and patient/staff relations.
• Complies with Hospital, Laboratory, Safety, and HIPAA regulations.
• Notifies Supervisor or Safety Officer of hazards.
• Completes annual mandatories on or before the due date.
• Follows established SOP for processing of biological specimens and maintains logs.
