FUCHS Lubricants Co. in Harvey, IL is seeking a Technical Service Technician.

You will conduct routine testing of samples, record results accurately, and perform daily instrument calibrations in a collaborative laboratory environment. The successful candidate will analyze customer samples, maintain turnaround times, prepare reagents, assist with inventory, and help keep equipment in good condition while partnering with the Technical Service Group Leader.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of industrial laboratory experience.
• The ideal applicant will be comfortable working as part of a team.
• Basic knowledge of wet chemistry.

• Excellent verbal and good written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine analyses on in-use customer samples.
• Maintain turnaround times for analyses as established by the Technical Service Director.
• Perform testing on other samples as appropriate.
• Maintain equipment and properly standardizes/calibrates instrumentation.
• Record test data proficiently and accurately.
• Prepare laboratory reagents.
• Assist with weekly inventory of supplies.
• Participate in general housekeeping including routine cleaning and maintenance, and performs other duties as requested by management.

Salary:

The compensation range for this position is $24-$25 an hour, but actual salary will vary depending upon a new hire's experience and qualifications as well as internal equity. This position is for 1st shift with the hours of 7 am - 3:30 pm.

Your Responsibilities:

The Technical Service Technician reports to the Technical Service Group Leader and is responsible forthe physical testing of routine samples, recording of accurate test results, and performing daily instrument calibrations.

The successful candidate will:

• Use established methods to perform routine analyses on in-use customer submitted samples
• Maintain acceptable turnaround times (as established by the Technical Service Director) for routine analyses
• Perform testing on other samples as appropriate
• Maintain equipment and properly standardizes/calibrates instrumentation
• Record test data proficiently and accurately
• Prepare laboratory reagents
• Assist with weekly inventory of supplies
• Participate in general housekeeping including routine cleaning and maintenance, and performs other duties as requested by management

Qualifications we are looking for:

Required

• 1-3 years of industrial laboratory experience
• The ideal applicant will be comfortable working as part of a team
• Basic knowledge of wet chemistry

• Excellent verbal and good written communication skills

Desirable

• A four-year degree in a science field; Chemistry is preferred, but Biology, Physics, etc. will also be considered. Associates degree with relevant experience is also welcomed
• Experience with XRF, FTIR, viscosity, titrations (manual and/or automatic), Karl Fischer, flash point measurements
• Microsoft applications experience (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook)
• LIMS computer system experience preferred
• A mechanical aptitude
