Qualifications

Responsibilities

Your role at GEI. GEI’s in-house laboratory conducts biological, chemical, and toxicological testing services. Our laboratory services include identification of benthic invertebrates, ambient and whole effluent toxicity (WET) testing, and low-level nutrient chemistry. This position is primarily based in the bioassay portion of the laboratory, with opportunities for cross-training if desired.

Description

Your role at GEI. GEI’s in-house laboratory conducts biological, chemical, and toxicological testing services. Our laboratory services include identification of benthic invertebrates, ambient and whole effluent toxicity (WET) testing, and low-level nutrient chemistry. This position is primarily based in the bioassay portion of the laboratory, with opportunities for cross-training if desired.

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, or ecology required. Coursework in ecotoxicology desired. Previous experience working with FIAlyzer instrumentation and/or WET testing is a plus.

Primary Responsibilities And Duties
  • Conduct WET testing
  • Recognize when others need assistance and be able to jump in and help out wherever needed
  • Maintain laboratory’s Ceriodaphnia dubia cultures on a daily basis
  • Conduct basic chemistry analysis
  • Conduct low-level nutrient analysis
  • Mix laboratory-grade water
  • Perform basic laboratory tasks including cleaning and maintenance of equipment
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Be flexible with work hours, including weekend work once fully trained
  • This is a full-time, benefited position
