Job summary

Sirius Staffing is seeking a Laboratory Technician in Chester, PA. This role will primarily sample, test, and monitor the continuous manufacturing process for precipitated silica, and also test, evaluate, and release the finished product to support shipping schedules.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree in a science-related field (bachelor’s in chemistry preferred), proficiency with MS Excel/Access, and the ability to update data files, interpret results, and operate lab equipment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a science-related field required; Chemistry degree preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Excel and MS Access for data handling.
• Ability to update and maintain analytical data files accurately.
• Strong judgment to interpret test results and take corrective actions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of chemical production processes to evaluate results.
• Experience maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment and managing lab supplies.
• Understanding of physical and instrumental testing methods; SAP experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory duties safely and support plant safety program.
• Sample and test the continuous production process; adjust as needed for quality.
• Conduct testing during changeovers to prevent cross-contamination.
• Perform finished-product testing and release results to support shipping.
• Keep notebooks and electronic data files organized for retrieval.
• Calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure reliable results.
• Communicate with Production Operators to support product quality and process needs.
• Conduct environmental and utility testing to meet permits and compliance.
• Assist with training new laboratory technicians.
• Participate in plant quality-improvement initiatives.
• Perform statistical evaluations and apply process-control methods.
• Follow ISO-9000 procedures and GMP/food safety requirements.

Job description

Sirius Staffing is seeking a Laboratory Technician in Chester, PA. In this role, you will primarily sample, test, and monitor the continuous manufacturing process for precipitated silica. These responsibilities also include testing, evaluating, and releasing the finished product.

Rate: $21/hr + PTO & Holiday Pay Schedule: TBD (Monday to Friday, 5:30 am to 2 pm - once trained, they would rotate onto weekends, one Saturday/Sunday, typically 2 weekends a month)

Responsibilities

• Perform all laboratory duties safely and support the plant safety program.
• Sample and test the continuous production process; make adjustments as needed to maintain product quality.
• Conduct additional testing during product changeovers to prevent cross‑contamination.
• Perform finished‑product testing and release results promptly to support shipping schedules.
• Maintain organized notebooks and electronic data files for accurate data retrieval.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure reliable results.
• Communicate regularly with Production Operators to support product quality and process needs.
• Conduct required environmental and utility testing to meet permit and compliance requirements.
• Assist with training new laboratory technicians.
• Participate in plant quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Perform statistical evaluations and apply process‑control methods as applicable.
• Follow all ISO‑9000 procedures and documentation requirements.
• Adhere to GMP and Food Safety procedures.

Requirements

• Associate degree in a science‑related field (Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry preferred).
• Basic computer skills, including MS Excel and MS Access.
• Ability to accurately update and maintain analytical data files.
• Strong judgment to interpret test results and take appropriate corrective actions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of chemical production processes to evaluate results and determine necessary adjustments.
• Experience maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment and managing lab supplies.
• Understanding of physical and instrumental testing methods used to verify product specifications.
• Experience with SAP and basic statistical knowledge is a plus.
