Job summary

Raleigh General Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Laboratory Technician for a PRN night shift to support essential lab operations and patient care. This role emphasizes quality control, instrument maintenance, and collaboration with staff to ensure accurate results and timely reporting.

The incumbent will engage in troubleshooting, participate in performance improvement activities, and support leadership in staffing during unexpected absences while contributing to a health-focused

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology required.
• Certification as MT/MLS (ASCP) or MT (AMT) or MT(HEW) or MT (NCA) preferred.
• BCLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and reviews the performance of quality control and assists staff with corrective action when controls are outside acceptable limits.
• Reviews instrument and equipment maintenance logs; assists staff with daily instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Uses critical thinking to assist laboratory director with technical and logistical issues, including arranging staffing for unexpected absences.
• Troubleshoots, resolves, and reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
• Participates in hospital-wide and departmental performance improvement activities.

How you'll contribute

A Laboratory Technicianwho excels in this role:

• Oversees and reviews the performance of quality control and assists staff with taking necessary corrective action when controls are outside acceptable limits.

What we're looking for

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• Licenses: Certification as MT or MLS (ASCP) or MT (AMT) or MT(HEW) or MT (NCA)
• Certifications: BCLS within 30 days of hire
• Experience: One year of experience in a hospital setting preferred
• Required Skills: Familiarity with organization and functions of each hospital department Leadership ability, integrity, and initiative required. Ability to solve problems effectively and handle stress in a positive manner. Maintain harmonious relationships with nursing personnel, medical staff, hospital administration, and all hospital department.
