Job summary

Raleigh General Hospital is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to join our team in Beckley, WV. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to optimize drug therapy, review orders for accuracy, and educate medical staff, patients, and students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid pharmacy license from West Virginia.
• BLS certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• 1–2 years' experience as licensed pharmacist with clinical responsibilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage drug therapy protocols as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Review, interpret and evaluate medication orders to identify problems.
• Provide drug information and education to staff, professionals, and patients.
• Document interventions and outcomes for quality improvement.
• Evaluate medication orders for accuracy prior to entry.
• Ensure controlled substances are issued correctly and discrepancies are addressed.

How you'll contribute

A Clinical Pharmacist who excels in this role:

• Manages drug therapy protocols as a part of an interdisciplinary team.

• Reviews, interprets and evaluates medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential or actual drug related problems.

• Provides drug information and education to medical staff, healthcare professionals, and patients, and pharmacy students.

• Documents interventions and their outcomes for use in drug therapy quality improvement efforts.

• Evaluates medication orders for accuracy and completeness prior to order entry.

• Checks for accuracy after being filled by technicians.
  Maintains adequate knowledge of pharmacy automated systems and computer software.

• Accurately and appropriately issues controlled substances to patient care areas.

• Corrects and attends to all discrepancies with controlled substances as required by law.

What we're looking for

• Education: Bachelor's degree

• Licenses: Valid pharmacy license from the state of West Virginia

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) to be obtained within 30 days of hire

• Experience: Preferred - One to 2 years as a licensed pharmacist with enhanced clinical responsibilities.

• Required Skills: Familiarity with organization and functions of each hospital department Leadership ability, integrity, and initiative required. Ability to solve problems effectively and handle stress in a positive manner. Maintain harmonious relationships with nursing personnel, medical staff, hospital administration, and all hospital department.
